According to Vietnam cashew association (Vinacas), in the first five months of 2015, Vietnam exported 117.000 tonnes of cashew nuts, meanwhile importing more than 197.000 tonnes of cashew nuts, 17.5 % increase over the same period of the last year.
The reason for increase of cashew imports is unfavorable weather condition and competitive market. In the near future, cashew sector will build up the sustainable development fund for cashew growers, actively encouraging domestic processing – units to meet processes of food safety. In addition, it is necessary to keep developing models of planting cashew nuts in many place rather than Long Xuyen communes, Bu Gia Map district, Binh Phuoc province.
