The international training of trainers on “Module 1 and 2 of Plantwise Plant Doctor” was held from 28 - 30/ 6/ 2017 by the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS) in collaboration with the Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International (CABI) at the Western Highlands Agriculture & Forestry Sciences Institute (WASI) in Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province.
Participation in the training included Dr. Tran Danh Suu – Director of Information Department, VAAS and PI of Vietnam Plantwise Project; Dr. Tran Vinh - Deputy Director of WASI; Dr. Dao Thi Lan Hoa - Deputy Head, Division of Science and International Cooperation, WASI; Faheem Muhammad - CABI expert; Dr. Tran Thi My Hanh- Deputy Head, Division of Plant Protection, Southern Fruit Research Institute and the trainees from WASI and Sub-Departments of Plant Production and Protection of Hung Yen, Vinh Phuc, Dak Lak and Tien Giang provinces and from Center for Hi-tech Agricultural Research and Development in Ho Chi Minh City.
During the training course, trainees learnt how to recognize and interpret symptoms, give advice on plant health care, promote plant health systems, and delivery of training with presentation and training skills. They will be source trainers who will provide knowledge and skills acquired during the course to their local staff as well as giving good recommendation to farmers at their plant clinics.
