The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Peace Winds America launched the program “City twinning on disasters adaptation”.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Peace Winds America launched the program “City twinning on disasters adaptation”.

 

The program aims to provide technical knowledge to strengthen planning capacity of disasters adaptation, to minimize disasters risks and rehabilitate post-disasters for authorities and enterprises of Hai Phong City.


During May 2015, the program has launched training courses on maintaining business activities for 10 pilot enterprises. After completing these courses, the leaders shall be able to protect their firms to disasters risks by performing feasible action plans to maintain the business.

The Director of USAID to Vietnam Joakim Parker said that Hai Phong, same with other coastal cities, has been coping with dangers of sea level rise and increasing quantity of storms. This initiative focuses on strengthening capacity in disasters adaptation for enterprises as well as in collaboration among public and private sectors in planning to response to disasters in Hai Phong City.
