Minister Cao Duc Phat and Vietnamese delegation had meeting with the German Minister of Food and Agriculture.
During the visit to Germany, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat had meeting with the German Minister of Food and Agriculture Christian Schmidt on 19th January 2015 aimed at strengthening the bilateral cooperation, particularly in the agro-forestry fields. At the meeting, Minister Cao Duc Phat appreciated the achieved results of the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture, and Berlin Agriculture Ministers’ Summit just held in Berlin. Minister Cao Duc Phat also expressed the appreciateion to the assistance and support provided by the Government of Germany to all sectors of Vietnam, particularly in the agricultural sector over the past years.
At the meeting, the two Ministers agreed to boost the cooperation in, particularly (i) helping businesses to strengthen trade relations and investment in the agro-forestry and fishery fields between the two countries; (ii) the scientific research, technology transfer and vocational training; and (iii) implementing the commitment set in the 7th International Agriculture Ministers’ Summit focusing on bioeconomy in agriculture.
Minister Cao Duc Phat also asked Germany to continue providing support to Vietnam through climate change adaptation projects, to speech up the process of signing cooperation agreement on forestry between the two countries, which facilitates the implementation of cooperation agreements between the two sides.
Minister Christian Schmidt highly appreciated Vietnam’s achievements over the past years. The Minister pledged to continue strengthening the bilateral relations, particularly in the agro-forestry fields. On the other hand, he will have discussion with concerned German agencies to realize the signing of cooperation agreements with Vietnam. Minister Schmidt also requested two sides to continue meeting for further discussion on how to promote bilateral cooperation, he also shared that Germany would support vocational training provided to Vietnamese officials and farmers and bilateral cooperation in the scientific research field as well.
